The key to a functional yet relaxed home, no matter the size, is all about being clever with space. Space planning is where it all starts on a project and the magic about furniture placement is that it can completely transform the way you use your home. For instance, we will often start by getting to understand the needs & lifestyle of our client so that we can start to create a layout which will help to elevate their everyday.
Simple things such as swapping a bulky dining table for a more ergonomic, circular option or introducing a pair of armchairs to sit alongside a sofa to allow more comfort for guests, makes all the difference to help with the flow of conversation. A great example of the power of furniture & space planning was when we were approached by a family who needed their beach house modernised. One of the main requests from this family & their beachside hideaway was maximising on sleeping capacity wherever possible! The beach house is a much-loved getaway & often hosts more family & friends than actual beds (haven't we all been there!). Our designers came up with some very clever ideas especially in the children's room; here a bespoke bed frame was designed so that we could maximise on the room's height & width. The finished result was a very roomy double combined with a queen-sized bed nestled above. Th2's spacious & modern take on the much-used bunkbed.

Let’s talk storage. This is one way furniture can hugely help in creating a restful home. Selecting pieces for your home which have a source of storage can be a powerful way of providing a sense of organisation & calmness in your home by hiding away all that day to day clutter which you don’t need on show 24/7.
Bulky storage pieces taking up the majority of your room are a thing of the past! You can be playful with your choices and make sure you aren’t compromising on style either. A favourite of ours is our Cabinet on Legs, we have found that many of our clients wanted a little something extra in their WFH spaces/kitchens, somewhere to hide away wires, files or additional glassware, so this stylish lacquered cabinet was born to provide just that. We even provide it in an array of finishes so that those wanting to be that little bit more daring have some go to options.
Another trick we often use on projects is ensuring that all bedside tables have shelves/drawers. There is nothing zen about getting into bed with a contortion of phone cables, books and receipts at eye line just as you attempt to drift off.
COMFORT IS KING
For us comfort and quality is extremely high up on our priority list when designing and sourcing furniture pieces.
Homes are to be lived in and therefore we feel you should never have to compromise on comfort in your own space. Hero items such as a sofa & armchair need to look good but also feel good. We work closely with our suppliers to ensure that the best seat and back cushions are filled with the highest quality foam & feather combination.
The quality of an item allows longevity. A thought-out design with high quality materials ensures that it can withstand many years of use even for those with a large family. Small design details such as adding seamless drawer glides & soft close doors provide those subtle functional pleasures. Nothing is more frustrating than a drawer that you struggle to open.
